JAZZ BY THE SEA FESTIVAL 2017
Following the success of 2 previous jazz festivals in Bournemouth, Jazz by the Sea Festival is undertaking a complete rebrand for 2017, which will also see the event expand to include various new venues, covering both the Poole and Bournemouth areas.
This annual festival will bring world class jazz musicians to Bournemouth and Poole for a whole week, 11th-17th June 2017, attracting jazz lovers to the area and giving positive financial return to local shops, bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants and businesses across two towns.
Throughout festival week there will be live jazz performances in various locations including retails outlets, shopping centres, music venues, restaurants, bars, hotels and outside spaces.
Opening on 11th June at Lighthouse, Poole Centre for the Arts will be a family jazz concert, hosted by Radio 2 presenter Clare Teal with her Hollywood Orchestra led by Guy Barker with special guests.
New this year, Jazz by the Sea Festival will be launching a unique Jazzmobile. A self-contained mobile stage, specially designed to present live music in public places across the area throughout festival week. Similarly, Jazz by the Sea Festival will launch their Dorset Queen Maritime Jazz Machine as part of Poole’s European Maritime Festival. This classic passenger boat will be showcasing jazz on Poole Quay, 11th June 2017.
Jazz by the Sea Festival will cater for all members of the community, with performances for the elderly in care homes, as well as an event for “jazz stars of tomorrow” which will engage students and young people through local schools, colleges and Bournemouth University. Jazz by the Sea Festival will also launch a brand new concept to celebrate international music and culture, with the ETC International College, which will aim to engage with overseas students.
The festival will close with a unique World Jazz Jamboree, a day and evening event comprising a series of spectacular concerts showcasing jazz music from around the world. With various performances during festival week being broadcast live on Jazz FM, follow us on social media to ensure you don’t miss a thing.
